MEDIATION & CONSULTING

COMMON
GROUND

Mediation offers parties an opportunity to resolve their disputes on their own terms and avoid the uncertainty, stress, and expense of litigation.  At any stage of your conflict, we want to help facilitate thoughtful problem-solving and build productive paths forward.

Deborah Lacombe

Over a 25-year legal career in the public and private sector, I have developed the skills to bring parties with different interests to consensus - working on complex issues affecting families and children, with legislative committees and judicial workgroups, and building state-local partnerships. That work expanded naturally into mediation, where I now help individuals and businesses navigate difficult problems and find solutions that work for them. I am certified by the Florida Supreme Court to mediate family, circuit, and county court cases and an approved mediator for DFS residential property insurance disputes. With Common Ground

Choose online or in-person

You choose the format that works best - virtual, in-person or a hybrid of both. Online mediations offer flexibility in how parties engage, including the option to meet together or be in separate sessions. In-person mediations can be at your attorney's office or any location agreed to by the parties, with no travel charge for under 50 miles from the Florida Capitol Building.

Save the expense of  trial

Litigation is costly for everyone involved - in time, money, and energy. Mediation offers a more efficient path to resolution, often at a fraction of the cost of going to trial. Parties can keep more of their resources for what comes next.

Move forward faster

Conflict takes a toll - emotionally and professionally. Mediation gives parties the opportunity to resolve their dispute on a timeline that works for them, without waiting for a court date. In mediation, parties have the chance to reach finality that day - no more worrying, no more taking days off work, no more trips to the courthouse. Reaching resolution sooner, means parties can get back to their lives.

Get a just solution on your terms

In mediation, the parties craft the outcome - and sometimes arrive at solutions a judge might not order. This level of control is lost in litigation, which becomes a spectator sport once evidence is presented and arguments are made, since no one can actually predict how a judge will rule. Mediation puts parties in the driver's seat, and that sense of ownership tends to produce agreements that feel fair, hold up, and allow parties to move on.
